先週の日曜日に川合玉堂美術館へ行って参りました。

美術館の駐車場がいっぱいだった為、澤の井という酒蔵の駐車場に車を止めさせて頂き、川沿いを散歩しながら目的地へ。
しかし、知りませんでした、玉堂美術館の最寄り駅は、青梅線／御岳駅。
私が止めた駐車場の目の前の駅は青梅線／沢井駅。
田舎の一駅は長い事！
しかも歩いたのは、山道です。
途中でめげそうになりましたが、川がきれいで紅葉もきれいだったので、
妄想全開フル活動で片道25分が楽しいものになりました。

玉堂美術館はとてもこぢんまりとしていて、作品数は多くないものの、
とても落ち着き、時間が止まっているかのようでした。
彼の作品、一つ一つからは、その画面には描かれていない奥行きや音、動物の声、人々の会話が聞こえてくるかの様。
またもや妄想の世界へと逃避行。

彼が過ごしたアトリエへと抜ける中庭から見える紅葉は、まさにあっぱれ！です。
思わず「きれぇ〜」と言葉が漏れました。
人間、本当に感動すると誰もいなくても、言葉が出てくるものなのですね。

一件は百聞にしかず。ですよ！

しかし、行きはヨイヨイ、帰りはコワイ。
皆様車で行かれる時は、玉堂美術館の駐車場へお止め下さいまし。

Last sunday, I went to Gyokudo Art Museum (Kawai Gyokudo).

Because the Museum parking lot was full, I parked my car at "Sawanoi" SAKE brewery parking lot, which was known for SAKE made in Tokyo, and walked along with river to the museum.
YES, the museum is located in Tokyo, but the place is very in countryside.
There are lots of mountains and beautiful valley.

Well, where I parked my car was a station away from the nearest station of the museum. You never know how far from a station to another one in a country (everyone dose not believe that the place is still in Tokyo!)
It took me 25 minutes to get there, but nature was absolutely beautiful, so I tripped to my imagination world with the gorgeous nature.

The museum itself is very neat and cute. They cannot exhibit many his art works at once, but the selection was very favorable.
As his art works, there I can feel the space where is not be drawn in his piece. As if I can see the depth of the nature or hear birds singing, animal taking, and conversation of people.
I tripped to my imagination world again. Happy

Then the view, of tinted autumnal leaves from the garden to his studio, was admirable!!
"Wow! It's sooooooooooooo beautiful!!" I shouted out.
If you were very impressed and touched, you would pass your lips without anyone.

A picture is worth a thousand words.

Although, the way to the museum was good walking, but the way back was boarding. :D.
If you have a chance to go there, please park your car at the museum parking lot.

It's rare to be named station after the city itself.

We do not see the station names as Paris or New York.

Sometimes it is confusing to say "I'll go to Tokyo". Station? or Downtown in Tokyo?

Anyway, Tokyo is a big city as you know.

And Tokyo station is the biggest station in Japan (as far as I know).

Everyone seems to be super busy. Walk fast!

When you get off the station, people still walk fast and seem to be hurry for something as if they are chasing something very important.

What are they looking for? I always question myself and imagine what they are searching for. No particular answer comes yet.

Our galley is located near Tokyo station (ten minutes on foot).

Just ten minutes walking and I can get relaxing time.

Time stops in the gallery. What I can feel about time is the time, which artists might have spent time for their creation.

I daydream a lot at the gallery.

And also think of the moment when a scroll meets his/her owner, whom we call our customer.

One of my co-workers always says "There is a certain thing that only a museum can do, there is also a certain thing that only a gallery can do"

What we, a gallery, can do is to make an encounter.

We always look forward to making up an encounter of people and scrolls like lovers meet up and hug each other at the station.

Yes!

We have decided to write our staff journal in English, and it will be our pleasure to introduce the beauty and the uniqueness of Japanese art to many people.

Personally, I believe that if our ancestors have not created Japanese-style paintings such as the Nanga(the Southern school of Chinese painting), there was no world wide culture of Japanese Manga. I will write about it later.

The person, who writes this journal, is not native English speaker, so might have strange sentences and wrong grammar use, but please for give her!

Now let's start off.

I went to the Tokyo National Museum yesterday to see the Rinpa Exhibition.

Rinpa is one of the biggest art styles, which was established by Ogata Korin in the late period of Edo.

This year is his 350th birthday year!

Happy Birth year!

Well, of course his achievement is great, but the most favorite artist for me is Tawaraya Sotatsu in the Rinpa.

I would like to talk about how great Sotatsu was (followed by my imagination).

I do not now what kind of person Sotastu was, but as I see from his work is he must have had enjoyed painting and drawing with his own story with.

Why I think and assume so?

Because his every work I have seen at the Museum makes me imagine of the conversations of people and animals on his pieces. And also I could imagine of the space, which was not even painted on.

For example, one of my favorite his piece is "puppy".

Just one black puppy sniffs on the ground in the scroll.

OK, as you think of a cute fatty puppy, what would you think of the face?

Round face? Yes.

Puffy fur? Yes.

Little nose? Yes

And large-pupilled round eyes! NO!

In his piece, the puppy is totally spaced out.

I am sorry to say, but he is a Halloween puppy.

When I saw that...I laughed out loud and was knocked out.

Then, I fell in love with the smart lines and the tint colors(beauty),

and his face(the beast)

Of course I bought a postcard of the puppy.

And quote; Look! What I found. There is always something very nice the way I walk by. Life is good...

京橋には、のら猫がとてもたくさんいます。

親切にえさをやって面倒をみてくれるお店が多いのが関係しているのでしょう。
みな毛並みがよく、おおらかに自然体で暮らしているようです。
ときおり、店の前をトトトっと猫が歩いてゆくのが目に入ると、ほっこりした気分になります。

しかしながらこの京橋の猫たち、あまり愛想がありません。
不必要に媚びることのないかわりに、驚くほど人間に無関心なのです。
仲良くしようと猫なで声で近寄っても、ふいっと顔を背けられる始末。若干、やわなハートが傷つきます。

猫は犬と比べて可愛げがないとよく言われますが、しかし見方を変えると『人間に最も近い動物』なのだそうですよ。

初めて出会う人には警戒したり、ごはんを食べさせてくれる人になついたり、気分屋で奔放で、忠誠心はないのに他人のことはよく見ていたり......。
私は猫を飼った経験がございませんので、言われてみればそうかなぁという感じですが。実際どうなんでしょうね。

京橋ののらたちも、近所で顔を合わせるたびに猫なで声で挨拶を続けていたら、そのうち懐いてくれるのでしょうか。にゃーにゃー。

ちなみに、近所の下井美術さんの店先にはいつもきまったのら猫が昼寝をしていて、私はそれがたいそう羨ましいのでした。

美術とは関係ありませんが、時にはこんな話題も。

私の家にはテレビがありません。

引越しの際になんとなく買いそびれて、だらだらと今まできてしまっているのですが、今のところさほど不便がないのは幸いです。

実家住まいをしていたころは、夕食時には決まってテレビのバラエティー番組なんかがついていて食卓を賑わせていたものですが、テレビのない今となってはそれも遠い日々。不便はないものの、なんとなくもの寂しいのも事実です。

そのせいか、今はよく本を読みながら食事をとるようになりました。（決して真似してはいけません。すこぶる行儀が悪いです）

小説などはついつい夢中になって読んでしまい、気づけば味噌汁が冷たくなっていることもありますから、食事中の読書はもっぱら雑誌の類です。（繰り返しますが、決して真似してはいけません）

ファッション誌でも情報誌でもなんでもあれこれ手を出して読みますが、毎月楽しみにしている雑誌の一つに『目の眼』があります。

古美術・工芸の月刊誌『眼の目』は、弊社の広告を掲載していただいている関係で知った雑誌なので、当初は勉強のためにと読んでいたのですが、今ではまるきり一読者として毎月新しい号が出るのを楽しみにしております。

なかでも、季節の京料理を素晴らしい様々な器に盛って紹介する飯田知史氏の『永楽に盛る』がお気に入りのコラムで、毎回ほくほくと涎を堪えながら読んでおります。

京ことばで綴られる文章も、東京生まれ東京育ちの私にはなにやらとても格好良く思われ、毎月京都ならではの料理や文化を興味深く拝読いたしておりました。

ちなみに今月号は、永楽即全さんの深い緑の美しい鉢に、若狭焼の『ぐじ』。

『ぐじ』ってアマダイのことなんですね。初めて耳にしました。

"やらこうて淡白なやさしい味わい"　なんて読んだら、胃袋中心に生きている私はたまらなくなります。じゅるり。...想像力が豊かなのも考えものです。

しかしながらこの連載も今月が最終回とのこと。残念です。

と、しょんぼりしておりましたが、来月からは京都で古くから伝わるいろんなお菓子を紹介してくださるそうで、こちらも今から楽しみです！

子供の時分から甘いものはなんでも好きですが、季節の花や景色を連想させてくれる眼にも美味しい和菓子が私はいっとう好みなのでした。小箱しまっておきたくなるような色とりどりの金平糖やお干菓子。四季の花をかたどった練りきりも、楊枝をさすのが躊躇われます。でも口にしたい、というこの矛盾にいつもささやかな煩悩を感ぜずにはいられません。むむむ。

お腹がへってきましたので、本日はこの辺で仕舞いといたしましょう。

皆様の秋のご予定はもうお決まりですか。

私は一足早く紅葉を見に御岳山へハイキングに行って参りました。

御岳山を下り、車で奥多摩街道を青梅方面に行くと、途中に「澤の井」という酒蔵があります。
一緒に行った仲間のリクエストと称し、お立ち寄り。

川沿いにお店、お酒が飲める庭園があります。

その奥に川を渡る吊り橋が掛かっていて、
そこの吊りから見る川面、紅葉の見事な事といったら！

近くで見る葉っぱの色、遠目から見る山の色。

なぜこんな色になるのだろう、と考えつつ、
紅葉を見るといつも思い浮かべる物の一つに絵の具のパレットがあります。

パレットも十人十色、その人の個性がでるものですよね。

青梅、御岳と言えば、川合玉堂です。彼はどんなパレットをつくっていたのだろう。

澤の井庭園から続く吊り橋を渡たり、彼の人となりを表すように「こぢんまり」と佇む
玉堂美術館へ答えを探しに。

と行きたいところでしたが、今回は別プランがあったため、断念。

とはいえ、地元延長上にある御岳渓谷。また来週行ってきます。

現在から11月30日まで「玉堂水を描く」という展示会が開催されているそうです。

御岳渓谷周辺も昨日からが紅葉の見頃だそうです。

秋の紅葉お出かけプランに一つプラスしてみてはいかかでしょうか。

自社イベント・美祭もなんとか無事に終わり、スタッフ一同

ようやく一息ついた近頃です。

今回の反省点を、また来年の春の美祭に活かせるように、頑張っていきます！

もう次の会場は押さえてしまいましたので、後には引けないのです。ファイト。

さてさて、先週の日曜日のお話になりますが、

遅まきながら上野・東博で開催中の大琳派展に行ってまいりました。

噂では聞いておりましたが、やはり凄い賑わいで

入場するのも一苦労でした。

しかし、こんな賑わいを見ておりますと

日本人は意外と日本美術に興味津津なんだなァ～

と気づかされます。

東博さんで前回開催しておりましたＶＳ展も、ものすごい盛況でしたね。

来秋、根津美術館さんがリニューアルしましたら、また一層日本美術が

活気づくことでしょう！楽しみです。

今回の大琳派展、学芸さんが「今回は古典的な作品をきちっと

おさえた、もっともベーシックなかたちでの琳派の紹介をしたかった」

といったことを何かの雑誌でお話ししておりましたのを拝見しました。

確かに！と思うことしばしばで、その代表はやはり

風神雷神図屏風を四点一堂に会したあの展示でしょうか。

あのように並べて風神雷神を見比べること

一度はやってみたいと思っていました。

そしてそれができるのは、やはり国立博物館ならでは

という気がいたします。

小さな美術館にしかできないこと、

大きな博物館だからできること、

それぞれ違いますもの。

美術画廊だからできることも、きっとちがいますね！
