Inspired by the great bird-and-flower, Watanabe Seitei, the exhibition features approx. 15 works by Seitei along with other virtuosos such as Maruyama Okyo, Nagasawa Rosetsu and more.

On Bird and Flower Painting -Watanabe Seitei & Other Virtuosos-
Since the Revived! Watanabe Seitei -The Solitary Virtuoso, 2017, Kashima Arts has been introducing the brilliant works by Seitei.
Marking the fourth of the series, this exhibition features approximately 15works by Seitei including a rare quadtych, Flowers and Birds of the Four Seasons (Spring: Dove on Cedar Tree, Summer: Winged Bean and Magpie, Autumn: White Hibiscus, Winter: Hawk on Pine Tree). Also on view, are the works by other virtuosos such as Maruyama Okyo, Nagasawa Rosetsu, Araki Kanpo, Shiba Kokan, Kaburaki Baikei and more. Come experience the world of flower-and-bird paintings through the artists’ keen observant eye, excellent brushwork and gorgeous colors.
