Biography |
A painter of the late Edo period, Mori Sosen (1747-1821) studied with Katsube Joshunsai of the Kano school. While being influenced by Maruyama Okyo, he pursued his own style of painting and was active mainly in Osaka. As the founder of the Mori school, Sosen was known for his meticulously hand drawn fur, especially his monkeys and deer. |
