Biography |
Ogawa Usen was a Japanese painter of the Meiji-Taisho period. Born in Tokyo, he studied Western-style painting with Honda Kinkichiro and taught himself Japanese-style painting. Later, in 1915, he formed the Sango-Kai along with Kawabata Ryushi and Hirafuku Hyakusui. Usen’s works are known for their fantastic and poetic character. The artist also became a member of the Nihon Bijutsu-In (The Japan Art Institute) in 1917. |
