Biography |
Okuhara Seiko (1837-1913) was a female Japanese painter of the late Tokugawa shogunate and Meiji period. She was born in Shimousa province (current Chiba prefecture). She studied under Hirata Suiseki and devoted herself to studying Ming and Qing dynasty paintings. She retired to Kumagaya, Saitama prefecture, and is described as one of the representative literati painters of modern Japan. |
